چکیده

In this contribution, the photoactivity upon activation by simulated sunlight of zinc oxide (ZnO) obtained from two different synthetic pathways (Acetate and Nitrate) is investigated for water purification. Different reagents processes were exploited to obtain ZnO nanoparticles. Products have been characterized means X-Ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy along with Energy Dispersive Spectrometer, Dynamic Light Scattering, Diffuse Reflectance Measurements, highlight outcomes ascribable each synthesis. A comparison characteristics performances was also carried out respect commercial ZnO. Nanoparticles semiconductor can be as aggregates degrees purity, porosity, shape, their physical-chemical properties addressed specific use in wastewater treatment, testing effectiveness on photocatalytic degradation methylene blue (MB) a model pollutant. Excluding sample, experimental results evidenced better behavior Nitrate sample annealed at 500 °C, which found pure stable water, suggesting that could effectively heterogeneous photocatalyst emerging pollutants provided thermal treatment included process.

Combined biological and physico-chemical treatment of baker’s yeast wastewater

The UASB reactor (35 C) was quite efficient for removal of bulk COD (52–74%) from the raw and diluted cultivation medium from the first separation process of baker’s yeasts (the average organic loading rates varied in the range 3.7–16 g COD/l/d). The aerobic-anoxic biofilter (19–23 8C) can be used for removal of remaining BOD and ammonia from anaerobic effluents; however, it had insufficient CO...

Hydrothermal Synthesis of ZnO/SnO2 Nanoparticles with High Photocatalytic Activity

The paper reports the preparation and photocatalytic activity of ZnO/SnO2 and SnO2 nanoparticles. These nanoparticles were synthesized by hydrothermal method. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Their grain sizes are about 50-100 nm. The photocatalytic activities of these materials were investigated for congo red removal from aqueou...

Physico-Chemical and Biological Treatment of Olive Mill Wastewater by Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC) Reactors

The removal performance of total poly phenols and orthodiphenols (o-diphenols) content in olive mill waste (OMW) was investigated with a three stages cross flow laboratory scale rotating biological contactor (RBC) in the present study. Due to high COD and other pollutant in the original OMW, physico-chemical treatment was effected for COD and other pollutant reduction prior to biological tr...
